Project Description

The Brief

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) needed to educate the Australian public on the new credit licensing process, which will take effect from 1 July 2010. ASIC wanted to ensure they reached as large an audience as possible to inform society on these new processes

The Solution

As well as holding roadshows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, a National Roadshow Webcast was held on 15 June 2010. People, who were unable to attend, were given the opportunity to view the webcast live, online. Viocorp also created an on-demand video which was placed on the ASIC website for future reference.

Summary

Using the Viocast service, ASIC was able to educate the Australian business community and also engage with them. Live on-line chat and twitter feeds gave viewers the chance to ask the speakers questions and comment on the discussion. This two-way interactivity was an integral part of the client’s needs as communication for the event was necessary for those who couldn’t attend. ASIC's webcast also included an online survey so participants could evaluate the event.

Result

Whereas the physical event attracted on average a hundred delegates per venue, the webcast had several thousand register of whom 850 watched it live and the rest on-demand. Out of these 850 registrations, 300 questions were submitted and over half completed the survey. Average viewing time was 1hr 45minutes showing that the commenting engaged the audience. ASIC were thrilled with the uptake and used the questions for post event follow up.
