Online Video Accessibility

All federal, state and local government websites (external and internal) must achieve Single A compliance by December 31st, 2012 and any online content created after July 2010 must include key accessibility elements in order to be compliant. Viocorp is working closely with AGIMO and key accessibility organisations to develop solutions to help government agencies transition to WCAG 2.0 compliance.

The key requirements for online video to achieve Single A compliance include:

  • Accessible media player enabling keyboard only access
  • Captions
  • Either Full Text Alternative (transcript with descriptions of what is happening on screen)
  • Or Audio Description (spoken descriptions of action added to the quiet parts of the audio track)
