How do I make money from my content?

There are several models that can be used to commercialise your online content.

  1. Advertising - either traditional banners on the website or through video advertising (pre roll, mid roll or post roll). Vioad supports banner, rich media and video advertising, across multiple formats and devices.
  2. Sponsorship - a client 'sponsors' the whole site. This can be achieved at a simple level with Viomedia, or with more sophisticated reporting features with Vioad.
  3. Pay-per-view or Subscription-based video where a fee is charged to the end user. Pay Per View usually involves payment for individual pieces of content. Subscription usually involves payment for access over a particular period of time. Viostream supports both models, or a combination of those models
  4. Syndication - syndicate your content to third parties like media or broadcast partners, subject to your own commercial agreements (which we can advise on). Viostream and Viomedia have excellent syndication features built into both products.

What kind of training will I get?

Each Viostream licence comes with an allowance for training.

Training usually take between 2-4 hours, depending on the level of expertise of the people being trained. Viostream is very easy to use with simple menu structures.

Most people we train have some digital or web publishing experience but that is not mandatory.

Viocorp trains a maximum of five people per session. Additional sessions can be provided. Ask us about our training program.

In addition to training on our own products, Viocorp also provides training for staff in camera operation and editing. We have helped major clients tailor packages for their staff in better video production, so that they can get the most out of their Viostream licences. Contact us for more detail about our training capabilities

What files can be uploaded into Viostream?

Viostream is media format agnostic, and supports many file formats and codecs. We support most video codecs, including Flash, Quicktime, Windows Media, and H.264 formats, in bitrates up to 2Mb/sec.

Most Viostream customers request us to encode in Flash, but many also request Windows Media or Quicktime. Customers can choose Low, Medium, High or High Definition transcodes, or all formats. It's a simple as ticking a few buttons on your control panel.

We have also recently pioneered the use in Australia of the new Microsoft Silverlight Adaptive streaming for live events, which allows users to see the best possible quality video at any time. For more details, check out our case study on Tennis Australia's December Showdown playoff event.

How do I forecast how much bandwidth I need?

Each Viostream licence comes with a monthly bandwidth allocation, based on your usage of Akamai's world-leading Content Delivery Network that ensures your content is delivered smoothly to customers.  You are allocated a monthly limit in Gigabytes.

A rule-of-thumb for calculating bandwidth usage is that for a file encoded at 300kbps, 2.25MB per minute is used. Contact us if you'd like some assistance in planning your spend.

What happens if I go over my bandwidth allowance?

Even the entry level Viostream package includes 30,000 minutes of video viewing per month. As Viostream is a cloud based solution at any stage you can increase your bandwidth or storage modules to fit your needs.

Viostream is powered by Akamai, the world's largest content delivery network meaning there are no limits to the amount of bandwidth that can be delivered.
