Yesterday, Thursday 17 June 2010, CEO's across Australia raised money for homeless services by taking part in the annual Vinnies' CEO Sleepout.
There were 684 Business and Community Leaders, who braved the cold and slept rough in capital cities across Australia, in a bid to feel first-hand what it is like to be homeless.
Viocorp partnered with Staging Connections to stream the fundraiser live online. CEO's were also encouraged to describe their experiences throughout the night in a new segment 'The Bench Diaries'.
Staging Connections were a National Sponsor for this event and it was CEO, Tony Chamberlain's, second year participating in the fundraiser. Viocorp CEO, Ian Gardiner, was one of the participants and spoke to ITNews of the experience "It ended up being warmer and dryer than expected, so the discomfort levels were not really that high. It was great to be able to do something to raise awareness of the issue and to raise much needed money for the cause. Homelessness is a pretty unsexy, unglamorous charity which often gets ignored at the expense of the better known charities and causes."
The CEO Sleepout has raised over $2.6million and is still taking contributions, all donations will go directly towards the ongoing provision of Vinnies' homeless services across the country.
